During my race for Maine Senate, I had a side agreement with my opponent. I said, “Henry, if I win the election I will take you out to lunch.” He said, “I will do the same.” We even set a place and time. However, he failed to keep his word. I even told him in the future I will be available and he never made good on his promise. I call that a Lie.
Thank You for Your Support!
As a nation, we have moved from the political season to the Thanksgiving season. For most, the political season ended on November 8th, but for those who ran for public office and lost it continues.
Why My Dad?
I will not be casting a vote for David Corbett on November 8th. Nor will I cast a vote for Henry Ingwersen. I can’t, I am a resident of Delaware. I do, however, have a great interest in this decision, seeing it is my dad running on the Republican ticket.
Duty to Perform
In Maine and America, we need to change the way we fight crime. Presently, we expect the police to be the professional crime fighters, so when we “see something, we say something.” Therefore, well- meaning citizens are willing to record video, call the police or just stay out of criminal incidents all together.
Responding to My Opponent’s Views
The issue in this election is: “The Economy, Stupid.” We are living in a Democratic Party-created Recession. But if my opponent wants to compare accomplishments, than please consider mine:
Criminal and Civil Justice Reform
I have invested a good part of my life in the Criminal Justice System. This includes education from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Technology (Law enforcement), and a Masters of Public Administration and Masters of Justice Administration from Golden Gate University (The university would only give one degree, but I completed the coursework for two degrees). I am a graduate of a number of different schools from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
The Maine Education Association
The Maine Education Association has released a list of Candidates that they support. For the Maine Senate, they supported all Democrats and not one Republican. For the Maine House, out of 155 seats they supported one Republican. For Maine Governor, they supported the present Governor, Janet Mills.
My Endorsements
During my campaign for the Maine State Senate, I have received many questionnaires from various groups, requesting that I fill them out. Frankly, I have been overwhelmed. Some are very long and tedious. They arrive either in the mail or through email with deadlines to complete. Due to the volume and required deadlines, I have had to let some of them pass by.
Maine’s Clean Elections Law
I read a letter sent to the editor recently, written by an individual who was boasting that he was supporting my opponent, in part, because he was a clean-elections candidate. My guess is that my opponent has been a clean election candidate three times.
The Maine Lobster Industry
The coat of Arms for the State of Maine is seen on the Maine State Flag. Two individuals appear on our flag, the farmer and seaman. The seaman demonstrates our reliance on the sea, our large sea coast, and our fishing industry. In particular our lobster industry which is valued at about 725 million dollars.
