The Maine Education Association (the state’s public school teachers union) has released a list of Candidates that they support. For the Maine Senate, they supported all Democrats and not one Republican. For the Maine House, out of 155 seats they supported one Republican. For Maine Governor, they supported the present Governor, Janet Mills. I am not making this up. Please email Grace Leavitt, MEA President at: gleavitt@email.maineea.org and ask for yourselves.

This tells me that our public schools:

  • Are in trouble.
  • Are an extension of the Democratic Party.
  • Are ignoring the problems that parents and Republicans are pointing out.
  • Are afraid of competition from public schools, home schools and charter schools.

The present Governor endorsed a commercial declaring that Paul LePage is lying about what is being taught in our public schools. But she gives no proof and jumps to “you can trust me.” With this commercial , as well as an endorsement from Maine Educators Association, NO WE CANNOT!

I have pointed out problems in our public schools in previous Corbett Corner Blogs. Remember, as a public school substitute teacher and bus driver, I have seen the problems our schools and students face first-hand.  Also, as a parent in my local school district, the failing public schools have affected my family.  You may read about this at davidcorbett.org. These articles are just the tip of the iceberg.

To help begin correcting our schools’ problems and addressing their issues, I ask for your vote on November 8th.

Rev. David Corbett
Maine Senate Candidate
District 32 (Biddeford, Arundel, Dayton, Lyman and Hollis)
