It is the middle of August 2022 and over the last two years we have seen inflation that did not have to happen. But our foolish leaders in Washington and Augusta have dug in their heels and tried to force on “We The People” an agenda that was doomed from the start to hurt Americans. Now that we have had a decline over the last two quarters, which is the definition of a recession. Folks, it is here! But our leaders, instead of admitting their failures, just continue to LIE to us. They want us to believe that a recession is not here, as they try to redefine the definition of the word. Friends, we know better because we are feeling the effects of their policies, as inflation eats up the money in our pockets.
This did not have to happen! It is just common sense. Once our economy had gas prices around $2.00 a gallon, America was gas independent and oil was being exported. Then our leaders wanted to force “green energy” on “We The People.” Excuse me, “We the People” should be telling our leaders what we want of THEM. America is a republic, not a totalitarian state!
To force their agenda, crude oil pipelines such as the Keystone XL Pipeline were shut down. Oil prices increased, heating oil went higher and airline ticket prices increased. Then there is diesel fuel, which increased beyond gas prices at the pump. Diesel trucks bring our goods to market, so increased fuel costs for them drive up the prices of goods in our grocery stores. This brings inflation, which is at a forty year high, which then brings on a recession! Some trucks, because of their loads, only get four miles per gallon.
Now instead of fixing the fuel issue, the Federal Reserve increases interest rates, which is the cost of borrowing money. Instead of fixing the fuel crises, the leaders want to buy our votes by sending us money through the mail. The taxpayers used to pay taxes and we still do. When in history have the Federal and State governments sent money back to the people? This is economic insanity! Any excess could have been spent on citizens who had real financial needs, such as the high cost of fuel for the upcoming winter, or to fix our crumbling infrastructure. This excess is just printed money and adds to our national debit. How much more can we take before our economy bursts?
“We The People” need to wake up! We know how we hurt and we need to vote this fall to change our leadership! In a past election we were told, “It’s the economy, stupid.” So it is this election! Yet, the Democrats are producing TV and radio commercials trying to make us afraid. Notice, they are NOT talking about the economy, because they own it.
I have seen a lawn sign that says, “YOU CANNOT FIX STUPID BUT YOU CAN VOTE.” That about sums it up! Let us bring a Red Wave to Maine this fall and pray that it rolls across America like a high tide. Let us send a message to Washington and let the old saying be true: “As Maine goes, so goes the Nation.”
