It is hard to imagine that one would choose death rather than life. Our Creator encourages us to choose life. In Deuteronomy 30:19 the Bible states “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore, choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.”

When I am asked about abortion, I tell people that I am not about death but about life: the life of the mother and the life of the child.  As stated above, God is for life. Did you know that the United States Constitution stands for life also? The 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution states: “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Ironically, it was in the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in which the Supreme Court Justices found a so-called “right to privacy.”  Reader, do you see a right to privacy in the words above? I sure do not and neither do the present Supreme Court Justices!  Therefore, when they overturned Roe V Wade in 2022, in my opinion, they did the right thing.

Speaking of Roe v. Wade, did you know:

  • “Roe” was really Norma McCorvey, who was in her early 20s and wanted to terminate an unwanted pregnancy (this had nothing to do with a woman’s rights nor health; it was all about birth control).
  • Norma gave birth to the child and put the baby up for adoption (She had previously given birth to two other children who both had been put up for adoption).
  • Norma McCorvey, when older and wiser, became a vocal opponent of abortion.

Did you know The Supreme Court ruled on January 22, 1973, in a 7-2 decision, to allow some abortions? But they divided the pregnancy into three trimesters:

  • Months 1-3: The pregnant mother could end the pregnancy.
  • Months 4-5: The government could regulate abortion in order to protect the mother’s health. With medical practices today, I know of no pregnancies that were terminated because of the mother’s health. That is just a smokescreen!
  • Months 6-9: The government could prohibit abortion.

Friend, do you see this in the 14th Amendment? Common sense would dictate that this is judicial activism. According to what I have written, a woman never HAD a choice to kill her baby beyond the first 3 months of pregnancy. However, according to God, no one has that right because we are told in Exodus 20:13, “Thou (You) shalt not kill” and this is supported by the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

So then, what we hear about the overturning of Roe V Wade is just a lot of noise and emotionalism with no common sense!

By the way, as a “Reverend”, I would also ask you to consider something I have heard no one talk about and something for you to ponder. What does God think about death/abortion?  HE does have an opinion you know!

First, when God creates us, we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26).

Did you know that man is made up of three parts? One part is the material (body) part and the other two parts are spiritual (soul and spirit).  I have never heard anyone address this in the life/abortion discussion.

Second, consider Jeremiah 1:5 which states “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  Before God forms us in the womb, we are known to Him. Before we are born, God has a plan for us. So don’t you think that God will get a little “ticked off” if the mother decides to kill her baby in the womb?  How much more will God’s anger be against the people who allow it?

Third, consider Psalms 139:12-16, which states:

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Fourth, consider that children are a gift from God. Psalm 127:3-5 states:

3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.

4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.

5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

Sadly, it is a well-known fact that Democrats choose death over life. It is also a well-known truth that Planned Parenthood is a major death provider and supporter of Democrats. I am sorry to report that Planned Parenthood has endorsed my opponent, who is also running for the Maine Senate District 32 seat. My opponent shares with the public his beautiful granddaughter, whom his daughter could have legally easily killed. Thank God she did not make that choice but sadly others have.

Dear voter, who will you support on November 8, 2022?  I plead with you to vote for life and common sense, not death! Vote for David Corbett for Maine Senate, District 32!
